10 Keys to Positively Impacting People

Taken from Paul’s life and 1 Thes 1-2.

Key #1: Pray before each contact and keep people in constant prayer (1 Thes 1:2).

Key #2: Depend on the Power of God in our life, but also remember that it is ultimately God that works on and changes people (1 Thes 1:5).  Key #3: Pleasing God is our main motive. Sometimes with people, we will have to spend time with them though we do not feel like it. We are doing it for God and for His sake—not ours. He will reward us for this (1 Thes 2:4; 2 Cor 5:10).  Key #4: Have a love for the people and a desire to see them grow. Pray for God to give this love, but also act loving and affectionate and the feelings will follow (1 Thes 2:7). Key #5: Enter their world, build a relationship, and impart/share our life with them (1 Thes 2:8).

Key #6: God’s truth changes lives. Share God’s truth at appropriate times and encourage people to allow it to change them (1 Thes 2:9; 2:13).

Key #7: Be interested in each person by asking questions and listening (1 Thes 2:8; Phil 2:3). Key #8: Be an example in our walk with God (1 Thes 2:10). Our relationship with God will automatically boil over and impact the people around us.

Key #9: Remember that the goal is life change–that they walk in a manner worthy of God (1 Thes 2:12).

Key #10: Use the tools of exhortation/charging, comfort and encouragement (1 Thes 2:12).
