- The Holy Spirit Indwells the Believer (Eph 1:12-13)
- The Flesh desires what is contrary to what God wants (16-17).
- We can either choose to carry out the desires of the flesh or walk in the Spirit.
- If we focus on walking in the Spirit, we will not carry out the desires of the Flesh and the Spirit will produce the fruit of the Spirit.
Root problem in marriages and relationships: Carrying out the desires of the flesh.The four horsemen of the Apocalypse that will destroy a marriage are: Criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling (Gottman).
Root solution: Walk in the Spirit and allow the Fruit of the Spirit to be produced in our life.
How do we Walk in the Spirit? (Rom 8:12-13)
A – Acknowledge that the flesh has been rendered powerless.
D – Depend on the Spirit for Power
C – Choose to say yes to God and no to sin.
A good marriage comes down to two Christians acting like Christians and Walking in the Spirit.
