Prayer Power: 5 Reasons Why Prayer is Important
Reason #1: Prayer changes us (Phil 4:6-7)
-
I may pray for 10 years for a request and nothing may happen. However, spending that time with God will have changed me.
-
Prayer helps align our will with God’s will.
Reason #2: Prayer is encourage and exemplified in the lives of Christ and Others (Col 1:3; Luke 5:15-16; John 14:13-14).
-
Pray was so important to Paul that he prayed night and day.
-
If we can worry or have a issue on our mind, we can pray about it.
-
Christ believed prayer was so important that He would leave His ministry of healing and preaching to pray. People may have not been healed because Jesus left to pray.
Reason #3: Prayer affects how God works (John 14:13-14).
-
God is in total control and causes and allows all things (Eph 1:11). He is sovereign. However, example after example is given in scripture when God did not respond until He was asked.
-
Prayer is God’s idea and He wants us to pray. However, He answers according to what He deems best.
Reason #4: Prayer is our number one weapon in this spiritual battle (Eph 6).
-
Satan is out to cause believers to fall and turn away (1 Peter 5:8)
-
Prayer is one weapon in this spiritual battle (Eph 6:18)
Reason #5: Prayer is one way we join God’s work and have an impact on people.
-
Prayer helps people through trials (2 Cor 1:11).
-
Prayer can effect other people’s spiritual growth (Col 1:8-11)
-
Pray has an impact on evangelism (Luke 10:2)
